Since the first Congress in 2001, a huge role in reducing infant mortality, decreased by more than 2 times, has played the timely application of effective methods of respiratory therapy in newborns. The development of respiratory resuscitation techniques leaded to a decline in mortality after operations and the provision of emergency assistance to victims of road traffic accidents.

Operations were conducted in 62 hospitals of 250 surgical tables with the direct participation of anesthesiology and intensive care. Each year in the region hosts over 120,000 anesthetics, including more than 45.000 are in an emergency basis. Most of these operations requires hard and effective work anesthesiology and intensive care.
50 region’s health facilities have 33 intensive care beds, which are treated annually over 15,000 patients with serious, life-threatening conditions. 60-70% of them have acute respiratory failure. The treatment of patients with respiratory failure occurring is an extremely complex issue and requires special technologies.
The main purpose of the Congress was to present practical doctors - anesthesiologists and intensive care, surgeons, pulmonologists, neonatologists - recent advances in respiratory support, and specific, practical guidelines that allow each year to improve the quality of treatment of patients in critical condition.

Also during the discussion was developed program of research in the treatment of respiratory failure in the coming years for the service of anesthesiology and critical care medicine in the Krasnoyarsk region and in the Russian Federation as a whole.
